Lastly, we've been whittling away on some new regular band tunes and are extremely happy with the results so far. Seems like 2012 is going to be a pretty nuts year for us. We're hoping to have a new record out in the first half of the year, and have some crazy stuff in the works surrounding its release.
We'll keep you posted!
In the meantime, we have a few shows in Texas... The first show is a benefit for victims of the recent central Texas wildfires. We hope you can make it out and give your support. The other shows will be a little mini-tour of Texas, which we're very excited about. We will be playing a bunch of new songs at all of these shows. Can't wait! Check out the dates to the left.
We just finished up a round of touring the west coast with our pals, Man or Astroman?. They are an amazing bunch of people and we hope that we can head out on the road again with them sometime in the near future. We will miss them greatly!
We are, however, in the very near future (next week!) doing a couple of separate tours with two fantastic bands, DEVO and Explosions In the Sky. You can find the dates to your left, or buy tickets here. We have a few headlining shows sprinkled in with the Explosions shows as well -- including our first headlining show of the Music Hall of Williamsburg -- exciting!!!
2011 has been pretty amazing so far! Can't wait to see what's next! See ya on the road!

HEXADECAGON TEXAS SHOWS
November 9, 2010
Hi everybody!
We have some very special Texas shows coming up in the near future!! Some of you might have caught our premiere of the HEXADECAGON surround sound/video show in Austin at this past SXSW -- theoctopusproject.com/hxdx.html. For those that missed the show in March (and those that want to relive the craziness!), we're going to do it again -- in Dallas (Nov. 18th) and Austin (Dec. 3rd).
We will be performing our new record, HEXADECAGON, in its entirety on a stage in the middle of the audience, who will, in turn, be surrounded by a perimeter of speakers and screens. All of the sounds and visuals will be thrown, spun, and ping-ponged around the room by us and our pal, Wiley Wiggins. It's going to be intense!
We highly encourage you to get tickets early! Just sayin'!
And, if you haven't picked up a copy of the record yet, you can always do so here!
HEXADECAGON SHOWS!
11/18 -- Thu -- Dallas, TX @ South Side Music Hall -- ALL AGES! -- TICKETS
12/03 -- Fri -- Austin, TX @ Eastside Drive-In -- ALL AGES! -- TICKETS
See ya at the shows!

HOME FROM TOUR
October 31, 2010
Yes!
We're on our way home from our best tour yet! We had an amazing time traveling all over North America with the Starfucker and Strength crews. We will miss those dudes dearly!
We were honored this past weekend to play the Moogfest in Asheville, NC, and (as definitely a career highlight) were privileged to be the backing band for Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald Casale for two DEVO songs -- 'Girl U Want' and 'Beautiful World.' It's impossible to put into words how fantastic the whole evening was. Mark and Gerald were awesome and fun and just all around super-radical to work with. Wow!

Ok! Here's the artwork for the Hexadecagon CD! The twins image was taken by our pal, Wiley Wiggins, while we were shooting videos for the Hexadecagon show. The CDs and LPs will have different artwork!

LP COVER ART
August 5, 2010
Ok! Here's the artwork for the Hexadecagon LP! The image is a still taken from Wiley Wiggins' (John Whitney-inspired) video for our song, "Catalog." We're pretty excited about the artwork in general -- some crazy special-ness happening with the LP -- details coming soon!
Everything will be officially available on October 26th, but will be un-officially available at all of our shows beforehand. So, if you'd like to own a copy a month before the rest of the world, come out and see us play (look to the left!).
More news as it comes in....

NEW RECORD!
June 21, 2010
Hooray!!
We are in the midst of finishing up a new record! It will be titled, 'Hexadecagon,' and will feature the 8 songs that we played at the shows over SXSW. We just finished mixing the record (yesterday!) with John Congleton up in Dallas. It sounds totally insane and is easily the most intense thing we've ever done. We recorded the majority of things at home over the last couple of months, then re-recorded some stuff/mixed with John at the helm. Excited for folks to hear it!
No official release date yet, but it will be out in the fall.
In the meantime, we have a short run of shows in Texas in July and will be hitting the road super-hard in September/October.
That's it for now. We're totally giddy with excitement!

HEXADECAGON!
February 22, 2010
Hi everybody!
We're tremendously excited to announce the project we're knee-deep in creating right now...
As you may have guessed from the title of this post, it's called HEXADECAGON. That's the geometrical term for a sixteen-sided object, and we chose it because the show we're working on is being written for an eight-channel sound and eight-channel video system: a sixteen-sided audiovisual panorama!
The eight speakers will be set up in a circle surrounding the audience, who will in turn be surrounding us (the band), set up in the middle of the whole shebang with eight images projected overhead. With this setup in mind, we can send all or part of the music spinning around in a circle or jumping from point to point across the space, or put completely different elements in each speaker, putting you and us in the middle of a crazy array of sounds. Add to that the video, which can run in tight synchronization with the sounds (following them around the circle) or behave completely differently, and the possibilities are endless! We're having a blast inventing these songs, building the electronics (the Bend Matrix) / programming the software we need to make this happen, and shooting the video (our pal Wiley Wiggins is running the video department - thanks, Wiley!).
And maybe the best part is that the show will be FREE! We're doing two performances on Friday, March 19 in the front parking lot of Whole Foods at 6th & Lamar. This is during SXSW, but you won't need a badge or wristband or anything, and it will definitely be all ages. Capacity is very limited though, and admittance will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so we urge you to make plans accordingly. Take a look here for info on attending.
There aren't enough synonyms for 'excited' to describe how enthused, ecstatic and generally psyched we are to share this with you - hope it sounds like a good time to all y'all and that you can make plans to party with us!
Man, it's been a long time since we updated our news! Sorry about that! We've been super-busy...
Currently hard at work on tunes for a new record/records. We can't divulge too much information at the moment, but we will definitely be incredibly active this year. Lots of crazy stuff coming up.
Last year, for Christmas, we recorded a Bee Gees cover as a gift for you guys. This year, we decided that we'd give you a New Year's present instead! We made up some ringtones and would like to give them to you as thanks for being so supportive and wonderful. We have "m4r" versions if you have the iPhone and "mp3" versions if you have a different kind of phone and know how to do that sort of thing. Not to discriminate on other kinds of phones, but the iPhone versions are the only kind we know how to make. We love all phones equally! Or, you can always just download the tracks and listen to a few 30 second songs over and over again. Exciting! Here ya go:
